General Studies Learning Community alumna Cynthia Osselin graduated from Adelphi University in December 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She recently landed a job at Greater New York Home Care.

What, during your time at Adelphi, has influenced you to become successful in your current career field?

During my time at Adelphi, I would say the General Studies Learning Community professors influenced me to become successful in my field. They always encouraged me to strive for whatever I wanted and they had faith in me, which made me feel I could go beyond nursing. Another great thing about the faculty is even after I left the program, they always kept their door open to me which was great, whenever nursing became too stressful.

How has the General Studies Learning Community helped you achieve your goal?

General Studies Learning Community has kept me diligent and focused, and taught me about time management which really helped in the rigorous nursing curriculum. I loved the General Studies Learning Community because of how committed the staff was to its students, offering them tutoring and counseling to help them transition from high school to college.

Where do you work now and what is your job?

I am a Registered Nurse, working for Greater New York Home Care. I take care of people in the comfort of their own home.
