Q&A with one of Adelphi's international students.

At Adelphi University, our students come from all over the world to gain experience, exposure, and knowledge as they immerse themselves as global learners. Here is a glimpse into what life at Adelphi is like for our international students!

Why did you choose to study at Adelphi University?

The main reason I chose Adelphi University was because when I walked on this campus for my audition I felt right at home. I was welcomed so beautifully to the campus, and everyone I asked for directions or help from actually walked me to the placed I needed to get to. Although we are in New York, driving up to Adelphi was a nice release from the city and the busy lifestyle, but is close enough for when I miss the city. So just hopping on the train is all it takes to explore the city. I have learnt so much and grown so much throughout the past years leading up to my junior year. I have been forced to go over obstacles and challenge myself and I’m so glad Adelphi has helped me with all this and has also been my home away from home.

What is the best tip you could give an incoming international student?

Do not be afraid of failure. Do not be afraid of feeling homesick. I’m not going to lie, it’ll be great the first few weeks because you’re living the dream of being in America, in New York, living the life, but then its going to hit you like a truck at one point, and you’ll miss home SO MUCH. That is okay. Embrace it, and make sure you have a good group of friends to surround yourself and help you through. Join clubs on campus, meet new people and keep yourself occupied so you keep your mind away from thinking of home too much.
