Experience art, history and culture with Adelphi in Florence.

The Renaissance defined modern culture—and the city of Florence was its heart. Adelphi University offers Adelphi in Florence: Experiencing the Renaissance, an interdisciplinary, three-credit Art History course that combines classes, lectures, museum visits, and excursions to understand how the Renaissance transformed the way we perceive the world.

This intensive course will run for nearly 3 weeks. Representing the collaborative effort of Thomas McAnulty, professor of Art and Art History, Jennifer Maloney, assistant professor of Art and Art History, and Andrea Begel, assistant professor of Art History, the program focuses on the interrelationship of art, literature, culture, and history. The course will cover three topics:

  • literature and philosophy
  • art history
  • sculptural production and experience.

Students will visit world-renowned museums and galleries, travel in Tuscany and experience the history and beauty of Florence. The program also offers optional weekend trips to Venice and Rome.
